And for those, like @Sickofleft, who claimed it wasn't an insurrection and that it was just a protest that got out of hand...

“That's chilling stuff, and it does reflect a purpose to stop the certification of the election,” Bates said.

Brock believed baseless conspiracy theories that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Republican incumbent Donald Trump, prosecutors said.

“When we get to the bottom of this conspiracy we need to execute the traitors that are trying to steal the election, and that includes the leaders of the media and social media aiding and abetting the coup plotters," Brock wrote in a Nov. 9. 2020, post on Facebook.

In a Facebook message to another user on Christmas Eve, Brock outlined what he called a “plan of action if Congress fails to act” on Jan. 6. One of the “main tasks” in his plan was to “seize all Democratic politicians and Biden key staff and select Republicans.”

"Begin interrogations using measures we used on al-Qaida to gain evidence on the coup," he wrote.

His “plan of action” also called for a “general pardon for all crimes up to and including murder of those restoring the Constitution and putting down the Democratic Insurrection.”

“Do not kill LEO unless necessary,” he wrote, apparently referring to law enforcement officers.

I hadn't seen that quote before....but when you consider the kind of advice he was getting from Stone, Giuliani and Flynn...we are lucky we didn't end up with a martial law decree and suspension of Congress and the election.

My father-in-law, a devout Trump lover, is a retired lt.col. He was an XO of a brigade..about 800 men. I asked what he'd have done if ordered to deploy in DC under martial law. He paused for a minute and said he'd have turned in his resignation. One can only hope senior officers would have refused such orders.

You assume I was talking about an infantry brigade. I wasn't. Specialized units are of various sizes. In Vietnam his artillery unit had three battalions and was about 800 men.

A battalion is a military unit, typically consisting of 300 to 1,200 soldiers commanded by a lieutenant colonel, and subdivided into a number of companies (usually each commanded by a major or a captain). In some countries, battalions are exclusively infantry, while in others battalions are unit-level organizations.

Meanwhile, you should feel free to pick nits on the least important part of a thread...like how many soldiers are in a brigade, instead of the fact that a career officer would have refused an illegal order from the President.
