As an economist, you are obviously a decent coder. You get DEflation from "jolts to the economy, like covid" not INflation. People typically pull in their horns and hunker down. 2 million small businesses have either closed or are hanging on by their fingernails. What do you think that does to "aggregate demand?" The inflation we are currently experiencing isn't a result of covid, and it isn't entirely Joe B's fault, but he most certainly has enacted policies that will make it worse (hint: it stems from too much government spending and over regulation). If you actually knew anything about economics you'd know that it is very unusual to have high inflation while also having high levels of unemployment. We call that "stagflation" and the last time we had it a "do gooder" democrat who had no business being President was in the Oval Office. It's a fairly common result of centrally planned economies like Biden's agenda produces.
The unemployment numbers are the result of the lockdowns. Period! That's what happens when you order businesses to close their doors, and fear monger people into not wanting to go out to eat, shop, vacation, etc. The best economies are the ones that either eschewed the lockdowns altogether, or wised up and reopened before Joe got around to giving them his permission.
We have a growing body of evidence that lockdowns, mask mandates, and even enforced social distancing at best had no effect on the pandemic (and may actually have made it worse) while we do know that they all have had deleterious effects on the economy. Knowing what we know now, Trump's approach was spot on - do not fearmonger (reassure people that we'd get through it), while focusing lazer like on current available treatments: hello, does the term hydroxychloroquine ring any bells?
Hydroxychloroquine drug touted by Trump as Covid treatment can increase survival rates by 200%, study finds (the-sun.com) and ramp up vaccine development asap. You guys faught him every step of the way (and you have been proven to be 100% wrong on every count).
