Trump thanks Rachel Maddow

That’s interesting. Saying something nice about Maddow is heresy among the Trump rabble.

It’s consistent with Trump’s statements and demeanor at his presser yesterday - he dialed back “the crazy” a bit, especially when compared with his bizarre rants on Thursday.

That’s a powerful sign of mental disorders - presenting as a “different person” from day to day. We have all known people like that in our lives, leading us to conclude that they’re crazy.

I'm sure once he sees her comeback, he'll bash her.

She had the head of the Army Corps of Engineers on and the commander of the USNS Comfort that will offer hospital services to lighten the load for non-virus patients.

Rachel's Response

Hi, Mr. President -- thanks for tweeting that interview. Gen. Semonite and the Army Corps are indeed doing great work, but at nowhere near the scale that is needed.

We're hundreds of thousands of hospital beds behind, months behind schedule, and...
...we're about to see the number of sick patients surge and hospitals overflow in multiple US sites at once.

This is not an NYC problem or even just a city problem. The apex patient surges will not happen tidily, one after the other, they'll flare up all over, overlapping.

Mr. President, with all the heroism and good work we're seeing from Americans around the country, you personally are leading the worst national response of any industrialized nation in the world, in what is now the largest COVID-19 outbreak on earth.

I say this without any malice at all, but please know that the US response is a catastrophe that is on track to cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

Stop talking about yourself and hyping unproven treatments and demanding people compliment you and all the rest of the nonsense.

(1) Nationalize the supply chains for critical medical supplies -- you should have done that months ago. Fifty states fending for themselves is idiotic, but it persists day after day, week after week. You can fix this now.

(2) Get people like VP Pence and your son-in-law out of the way and bring in actual, experienced pandemic response experts and scientists to lead the response and brief the nation.

(3) Some Governors are following your zig-zagging and dithering lead and refusing even now to institute clear stay at home orders to slow the spread of the virus -- tell them unequivocally to change course, now.

(4) Prisons, jails, detention centers will be death traps for prisoners/detainees and staff. They'll also become leaking reservoirs of infection for every community -- order emergency decarceral measures, now, before it spreads wildly everywhere people are kept behind bars.

(5) We're going to need mass testing, a massive effort to isolate those with the virus (separate and apart from uninfected people staying home), a huge data-driven contact tracing effort, and a wartime-level mobilization of health workers and people to support them.

You're failing to do any of that. Any of it. Any of it. You're failing on every measure, and it is worse by the day. Find experts who can do this for the country and please, sir, get out of the way.

Thank you again for tweeting that interview.

Republicans aren't all hate all the time. You should maybe try it.

Oh jeez...wait until Trump sees all that good advice. It will throw him into a tizzy.

As I said above, Trump ratcheted down the hate and insanity at his Friday presser. He’s not hate all of the time - just most of the time. As with most people with profound mental disorders, his personality changes day to day.

Ah, as opposed to the constant and unrelenting "sane" hatred coming from the left. :)

I don't know why all the hoopla about Mad Cow. This chick barely has any ratings at all.

Who gives a rat's ass what she has to say?

Ah, as opposed to the constant and unrelenting "sane" hatred coming from the left. :)
Nah, you know that’s not true. The left tend to be very empathetic, kind people. You just confuse criticism of your cult leaders with hate. It’s astounding that you look at the current crisis in the nation and simply excuse Trump’s complete denial and bumbling for the past three months. Even more astounding is that you label criticism of Trump’s atrocious incompetence as hate.

The left tends to be liars and opportunists. I have heard leftists threaten to shoot our "cult leaders" just for disagreeing this his policies. You're violent and uncivil, and are only kind to those who don't oppose your dogma.

I have never seen a group so invested in hate and fear as the left.

Pretty much. They're stupid and dangerous.

Nonsense, of course. Leftists tend to be quite pacifistic. Not 100%, obviously, but a huge percentage. You could find dozens of posts here from wingers threatening people, yapping about their arsenals, threatening armed revolt if things don’t go their way, etc. Finding posts like that from leftists would be a challenge indeed.

Then we have Trump’s hate rallies, where he urges violence against people and goes through his usual litany of groups he hates, as the MAGA crowd hoots in delight.

You just hate reality.

I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should drive.

That is, quite simply, mindless hectoring. "Nationalize supply chains?" Why, does Rachel really believe that plants run by the government will be more efficient than those run by the private sector? Probably, but she is dead wrong about that. I don't see Kushner anywhere near this effort and Pence is just a figure head - he isn't making the decisions anyway - Berx and Fauci and the military generals in charge and ARE "experts and scientists." Not all states are in the grip of this crisis so it is absurd to demand that everyone stay home everywhere - just more leftist authoritarian overreach. "Decarceral measures? What good does releasing criminals do? Besides, most are state prisoners anyway and the (lefty) governors are not letting this crisis go to waste by throwing open the doors of their state's prisons. We'll see if that was a good idea if the crime rates jump.

So all of that is either insipid or inane or both, and for sure they are all unneeded. But thanks, Rachel, for your input - now go win an election.

Trump called himself a war time president so Rachel pointed out what a war time president would do......"Nationalize the supply chains for critical medical supplies."

How would a severely partisan news talk show host with a huge track record of pushing Russian collusion and impeachment and remember "bridge gate", how would she be trusted to know how many hospital beds are needed?

That is hilarious.

Except for Republican governors DeWine and Hogan, what we've always know is being confirmed...….Republicans don't believe in govt; Democrats do.
In national emergencies, we need the govt to lead and be effective and competent.....like FDR in WW2. Where's Trump? Complaining that Dem govs aren't kissing his ass.
