I'm dubious...technology tends to plateau out. Look at space travel. Nothing really "new" since the Shuttle and the Chinese are flying a knock-off of the Soyuz (Shenzhou) which was designed in the late 60s. Some better materials, engine designs, but nothing radically new like nuclear drives or large-scale ion drives.
I grew up in, and still live in, the land of Boeing. I can still remember my first sighting of a 747 flying overhead. It was 1969 and I was 14 years old! I also remember my first sighting of a 1969 Chevelle. The former hasn't evolved quite so much, as the latter!

I would like to change one point I made: it is not possible to clock light faster than c, regardless of reference point.
