Waters: Fancy Rich Dinner Parties = More Political Say. Is this a Mainstream View on the Left?

Mr. Friscus

Governor
“As you know, we have candidates who fly out to Los Angeles from everywhere to raise money,” the California Democrat told CNBC on Thursday.

“As a matter of fact, it had gotten so that you would have two, three, four at a time in Beverly Hills having dinners. And some of our contributors who are very rich were holding, you know, fancy parties, trying to accommodate the request for donations and contributions. And so, you know, the conclusion, the thinking is that if we are supplying tremendous dollars to candidates, we ought to have more say.”

Wow, entering historically creepy speech here.

All are not equal.. we, the few, educated, entitled elite, will decide what is right for us all.

Yikes!

You should probably talk to Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito about that one. They are the ones who voted for Citizens United.

What are you talking about? Trump was abusing power by soliciting foreign interference in our elections.
I'll cede all of your conspiracy theories for this instance, and say that even if he was the meanest baddie and did everything you hoped he did, there's still no such thing as "selling influence", which is political corruption.. it's only "freedom", as you say.

Auntie Maxine really isn't the brightest.

She's saying California, not Iowa, should hold the first caucus because they have fancy dinner parties and raise money.

You down with that?
No, she’s saying California should have more say because it would give ordinary voters more power and big donors (whose money spends as well in Iowa and New Hampshire) less. She’s pointing out how the current system gives the big donors an outsized voice.
