Why I'm so disappointed in Republicans & the GOP

sear

Mayor
The political party known as "Republican" in the U.S., the party of the current U.S. president is in ideological disarray.
3rd millennium Republicans pretend to political conservatism.

Republicans are therefore a disgrace, a would be embarrassment to political conservatism, IF they were conservatives.
If ever the Republican party were conservative, it has not been so for generations.

In this new millennium Republican presidents have lied US into War:

"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt, that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."

U.S. President Bush (the younger) televised address to the U.S. March 17th, 2003

promised to secure our Southern border by building a wall, and having Mexico pay for it.

No Republican politician apart from Rand Paul can be trusted as far as a school girl could throw him.

It is terribly see this political party self-labeled as "grand" so self-defeated.

What does the GOP stand for today? Yet once again, the party of rich old White men? Thus cutting taxes while escalating our deficit & debt.

It's a tragedy.

"... the magnificently misnamed "neo-conservatives", are the most radical people in this town [Washington DC]" George Will / ABC-TV This Week July 16, 2006

"What's pernicious about deficits for conservatives is this. It makes big government cheap. What we're doing, we're turning to the country, the "conservative" administration turns to the country and says: We're going to give you a dollar's worth of government, we're going to charge you seventy five cents for it. And we're going to let your kids pay the other quarter." George Will Nov 30, 2003

And the compounding irony of all this is in case after case, compared to Republicans, it's the Democrats that are the political conservatives!

That's painful to an Eisenhower / Goldwater Republican!

Do you remember the "Daisy Girl"?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daisy_(advertisement)

"'Daisy', sometimes known as 'Daisy Girl' or 'Peace, Little Girl', was a controversial political advertisement aired on television during the 1964 United States presidential election by incumbent president Lyndon B. Johnson's campaign.

"Though only aired once (by the campaign), it is considered to be an important factor in Johnson's landslide victory over Barry Goldwater and an important turning point in political and advertising history.

"It remains one of the most controversial political advertisements ever made.[1][2]"

Goldwater in '64 was a minor glitch in the Republican machine compared to Trump in 2018 and 2020; he will break your party into pieces before he's done.:)

The problem with the republicans is essentially the same problem that democrats have. both pay lip service to the base. they both promise to fix problems and work for the American people, but neither of them can. They both want the problems we currently have as wedge issues in their elections. Democrats wont allow anything to get fixed because if they do they will become irrelevant. Republicans don't want anything fixed because they are benefiting financially from the problems.

Suddenly someone like Trump comes along, who is used to getting things done, and both parties are completely apoplectic.

What do you imagine Trump has accomplished aside from dividing this country like no POTUS before him?
Trump hasn't divided the country, the left has divided the country by going terrorist when they lost the election.

And Trump has done more than literally any president in his first year.

Thanks for the Daisy spot reference.
I remember it.
"Trump in 2018 and 2020; he will break your party into pieces before he's done." gp #2
It's not my party. But I believe President Bush (younger) pretty well took care of that.
I'm not suggesting Trump's making repairs.
I'm merely observing Bush left us a smoldering crater.

Interesting, but a shade wide of the mark I suspect.

As far as Trump getting things done, both Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell aren't even arranging a floor vote unless they KNOW they have the votes to pass it.

Difficult to know which is worse.
Our cowardly congressional leadership in the GOP, or our devil may care president that lacks even a rudimentary understanding of politics.

Commenting on Donald Trump's going years without paying federal income tax former federal prosecutor former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani said of Trump:

"The man's a genius."

Late night TV comedy host Stephen Colbert replied:

"Yes. Only a genius could lose a $Billion $dollars running a casino."

Wow, this is an extremely well-written, ably constructed pile of disjointed bullshit. But, as they say about an extremely well-written, ably constructed pile of disjointed bullshit: It is, after all just a pile of bullshit.

It is not Trump who is dividing the country. It is the riff raff and red-neck trash in the Democrat Party who refuse to accept the results of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump's a congenital liar, racist and mobbed-up crony capitalist who appeals to a base prone to bigots and demagogues.

That's not a refutation or even a logical argument.
It's merely potty-mouth pseudo-contradiction or denial.

When you're ready to refute a point, please do.

A majority of Americans disagree.
Trump's ignorance, indifference, stupidity, and bluster have made this country a laughing stock around the world.
You better step outside the echo chamber before reality pops your bubble?

Your link:

"Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR)
For nearly 40 years, Republicans have tried and failed to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for oil drilling. Since the 1980s, the effort always failed in the face of intense opposition because weak congressional Republicans were too afraid of the Democrat-Big Media coalition.

"They repeatedly abandoned the decades-old campaign promise.

"Yet, a provision for drilling in ANWR was included in the President’s signature tax bill with minimal backlash."

Like many of these "accomplishments" all Trump has succeeded in doing his make his class, the richest one percent, even richer than when he was "elected".

Perhaps a majority of Democrats disagree but I doubt a majority of Americans disagree. Now don't go Arkady on me and show some phony CNN poll that proves your contention that a majority of Americans agree with you. We both know that there are no longer any honest and accurate polls being done in this country. So it all boils down to one's opinion.
If Obama's deep state cabal in the FBI, Justice and State had not violated constitutional law in an attempt to prevent the election of Trump, and the prosecution of Clinton for her crimes, and continued a phony witch hunt investigation, after the election, with the willing help of a corrupt media, the lives of all Americans would be even better now than they already are because of President Trump.
The house of cards is starting to come apart. McCabe is just the first criminal to go down. You have to be concerned that this will end with Clinton.

If someone posts a missive full of bullshit and another poster calls it bullshit then should not that qualify as a refutation? I think so.

I consider you an uncontested supreme authority on bull$#@! sir.

BUT !!

Even if true your point is irrelevant, because I didn't.
"and another poster calls it bullshit then should not that qualify as a refutation? I think so." JED #17

a) "Truth is not determined by majority opinion." Dr. Italo Benin

b) refute (rî-fy¡t´) verb, transitive
refuted, refuting, refutes
To prove to be false or erroneous

[Latin refútâre.]
- refut´abil´ity (rî-fy¡´te-bîl´î-tê, rèf´ye-te-) noun
- refut´able (rî-fy¡´te-bel, rèf´ye-te-) adjective
- refut´ably adverb
- refut´er noun *

FYI JD #17,
If there was one single logical or factual defect or infraction in ANYthing I posted, it would be a simple matter to blast it out of the water by simply:
- quoting it
- exposing it, &
- correcting it.

These blind, completely unsubstantiated dismissals based on bovine scatology don't merit serious consideration. What is there to consider? It doesn't even rise to the level of rational thought.

And obviously, the potty-minded disagreers that have dismissed it here simply lack the intellectual capacity to compose a logical argument.

But then:
If they (including you) were smart enough for that, you'd probably be smart enough to realize you & they are wrong, and that I am right, AGAIN, as usual.

It is entirely fine with me if both Clintons die in prison for what they have done to this country over the last 25 years.

Trump first saw his name in the New York Times as a defendant in a racial discrimination lawsuit. Since that time he has been involved in numerous questionable activities that strongly suggest a RICO prosecution, including decades of money laundering on behalf of the Russian mafia.

Your defense of Trump while criticizing Clinton speaks volumes about your partisanship and total indifference to punishing criminal behavior regardless of party affiliation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_affairs_of_Donald_Trump

"An analysis by USA Today published in June 2016 found that over the previous three decades, current United States president Donald Trump and his businesses have been involved in 3,500 legal cases in U.S. federal courts and state court, an unprecedented number for a U.S. presidential candidate.[1]

"Of the 3,500 suits, Trump or one of his companies were plaintiffs in 1,900; defendants in 1,450; and bankruptcy, third party, or other in 150.[1]

"Trump was named in at least 169 suits in federal court.[2]

"A number of other cases (over 150) were in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida (covering Broward County, Florida) since 1983.[3]

"In about 500 cases, judges dismissed plaintiffs' claims against Trump.

"In hundreds more, cases ended with the available public record unclear about the resolution.[1]

"Where there was a clear resolution, Trump won 451 times, and lost 38.[4]"
