Why I'm so disappointed in Republicans & the GOP

Extremely naive, but "there are none so blind as those who will not see." If you use a laptop or mobile phone, people died in wars over the conflict minerals used in these devices. Same with a hearing aid or the airbag in your car. Get your electricity through electrical cables? People died in wars over material used to make the insulation. Get water through a PVC pipe? Guess what? Golf or fish? Your clubs and sinkers are probably made of conflict minerals?

Under the present capitalist system, the only way to stop consuming at the expense of innocent life is to die yourself. I'd rather stick around and fight for a world that isn't built on blood sacrifice.
So...people died not from consumerism, but from war. Since we don't conquer here in the US, most of our consumerism is based on trade.

It's not "black/white" so much as "words mean things."
They do. for example, a little capitalism doesn't make you a capitalist country. If that were the case, we would be a capitalist/socialist/Marxist/hybrid authoritarian regime. I know the left subscribes to breaking things into little boxes so that they can pick them apart, but here in the real world, there is a lot of grey.

Most of the poorest countries have fewer restrictions on capitalism and fewer departures from the capitalist ideal (if you ignore their debt to the rich countries) than the U.S.

Most of the poorer countries have extreme restrictions on capitalism. Korea, for example, wont let anyone even communicate with anyone outside of the country. No internet from outside of the country, nothing. Poorer states in Africa spend most of their time on a war footing and repress their populace to the point where they don't even have access to communication outside of their own villages.

What do you imagine Trump has accomplished aside from dividing this country like no POTUS before him?
Trump has done nothing to divide the country
Then again maybe he has trying to fix the mess when people want to continue the way obama was leading the country people get pissed they want their free stuff those days are over. He's making America the leader it use to be and you don't like it. GO POUND SAND

You need a dose of reality:

"One year after Donald Trump’s upset election victory, it’s not unusual to hear people wonder out loud if the United States is really one country anymore.

"Last month, the Republican senator from Arizona, Jeff Flake, gave a speech on the Senate floor about the 'state of our disunion.'

"Recent polls have confirmed that Americans are feeling bitterly split.

"A Gallup poll conducted just after the 2016 presidential election found 77 percent of Americans see the country as 'greatly divided when it comes to the most important values,' up from 66 percent in 2012.

"A Washington Post-University of Maryland poll, conducted nine months into Trump’s presidency, found that seven in 10 Americans think the nation’s political divisions are as bad as during the Vietnam War."

N. Korea is not one of the world's poorest countries ... in fact it has a higher standard of living than a typical African country and many Asian countries. A war economy is in fact typical of capitalism ... just look at the U.S. ... as is repression. Capitalism is about free flow of money, not free flow of information.

Yes, capitalism is about the free flow of money, which is repressed and non existent in poorer countries. If money were free flowing, they wouldn't be poorer countries. The two are anathema to one another.
