Yep, the Ron Paul candidacy should be discussed

in the context of a "third" choice, and therefore a "lesser of three evils" choice should he maybe do the Nader thing. My "lesser of two evils" voting habits have in more recent times, been determined by the good cop/bad cop routine and the faux duopoly it represents, ushered in by the "third way" crowd and their champion Bill Clinton. As some astute observers may have noticed over time, most that adopt and promote the idea that both parties are corrupt are righties, who share this pov with the lefties -- they ignore the level of corruption to be found proportionately within the parties. I do however, think they adopt and hold this pov in large numbers for different reasons -- the righties do so so as to burnish their "reasonability" credentials as some may have noticed, they spend most of their time and text bashing almost exclusively the left and voting for the right, whereas the left -- like with the OWS movement -- do so to ask "Why should I vote for you since you're part of the problem". "Part of the problem" is key here, because as far as seeking solutions for the conflict between the 99% v 1%, there can be no doubt as to which parties are largely on which side of the battle lines drawn. Of course the dems in many ways cling to their "good cop" role, but who do you want to be interrogated by is the question, despite all this. http://blog.buzzflash.com/node/13242 (Note: of course BHO is "fighting back" now, which he deserves credit for, regardless of his motivations)

First of all, I'm surprised that more repubs aren't howling about how "he's not a libertarian" given that he often diverges from what they think they know a libertarian to be http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/five-myths-about-ron-paul/2011/12/07/gIQAu3vOiO_story.html?tid=pm_opinions_pop The simple fact of the matter is, they aren't that easily defined. http://www.iep.utm.edu/libertar/

Secondly, while I agree on many of his foreign policy povs and the abominable policies both parties have a role in regarding the perpetuation of the phony war on terror as noted in the link above, this has to be weighed against his domestic policy povs, which I find equally abominable. http://crooksandliars.com/kenneth-quinnell/ron-pauls-racism-isnt-worst-thing

and in some respects even more so, given his position on the environmental issues, because in my long held and argued pov, global warming dwarfs all other issues in importance http://www.treehugger.com/corporate-responsibility/on-the-environment-ron-paul-is-even-crazier-than-michele-bachmann-and-rick-perry.html

and when it comes to the war between the 99 and 1%ers, he's squarely in their camp, as all the material submitted as evidence thusfar already clearly shows, but let's sum it up again http://bobcesca.com/blog-archives/2012/01/ron-paul-on-the-1.html

Personally I'd welcome a Paul candidacy on the repub ticket or as a third party, because I think he'd fail miserably as the repub candidate given his being diametrically opposed to them on just about everything due to his FP/WOT povs, and would only serve to take more votes proportionately away from them as a third party candidate due to his mostly abominable domestic policy povs.

Here's a good but far from complete list of what's at stake in the next election folks http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2012_01/what_if_the_gop_wins_in_novemb034539.php and as always, I see the SCOTUS appointments by far the most important to the anti-science, flat earther pursuits.

The key to ending the good cop/bad cop routine in DC, and restoring something that much more closely approximates a real duopoly, is voting for better dems, and putting the bad ones on the hot seat in any way possible -- as the OWSers are trying to do.

ANd if it's all about "the conomy stupid", it's really a no brainer http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/01/06/1052113/-Republicans-arent-job-creators?via=blog_1 unless of course you wanna sign on again to the failed "trickle down" garbage.

In the immortal words of a repub Titan and sage

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

You can waste you're time with Ron Paul all you want. Me I would rather discuss candidates that have a chance. Did you support Lydon LaRoche?

he must notta

while Paul is preferable to me by far to any of the others on the FP front, his domestic policies suck big time

It's also a bit confusing, given his support for the corporatists/fascists many of those policies provide in light of comments like this http://davidappell.blogspot.com/2007/12/ron-paul-on-fascism.html. in light of his support for the "Citizen" decision that tore the lid off the already cracked open Pandora's Box.

How he proposes to cure the corporatism/fascism problem without killing their influence remains a mystery -- to me anyway.

Maybe it's the price we have to pay for "freedom"...lol
