National gas price average hits new record high at $4.45 per gallon
The average price for a gallon of gas hit $4.45 Saturday, according to AAA Gas Prices. Some states with higher-than-average prices include California at $5.92 a gallon, and Hawaii at $5.32.

Diesel also hit its own highest recorded cost at $5.56
The national average retail price for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $4.40. However, Andy Lipow, the president of Lipow Oil Associates, estimated that the national average could soon surge as high as $4.50 per gallon.

Biden's contribution

The Biden administration canceled one of the most high-profile oil and gas lease sales pending before the Department of the Interior, as Americans face record-high prices at the pump, according to AAA. Within his first week in office, President Biden signed an executive order temporarily suspending new oil and gas leases on federal lands. The administration resumed the new leasing last month following court challenges against the ban. The administration is appealing a ruling in which Judge James Cain, a Trump appointee, struck down the ban.

Biden blames Putin for high gas prices — but this timeline proves it’s the prez’s own fault
From Day 1, Biden and the Democrats’ actions and statements pushed gasoline prices steadily higher.

Jan. 20, 2021: Just hours after Biden’s inauguration, his executive order killed the Keystone XL Pipeline and launched the Democrat War on Oil.

National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy entered office. She once said, “I want fossil fuels gone. I want fossil fuels out of products. I don’t want to help the fossil fuel industry to extend their life.” The US Energy Information Administration reported that week’s average gallon of regular gasoline cost $2.38.

Jan. 27, 2021: Biden directed the Interior Department to stop oil and natural-gas leases on federal lands and in public waters. (Gasoline: $2.39)

Feb. 14, 2021: Interior Secretary nominee Deb Haaland declared: “We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground.” ($2.46)

Feb. 25, 2021: The US Senate confirmed Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. She previously said, “We ought to be doing everything we possibly can to keep fossil fuel energy in the ground.” ($2.63)

March 2, 2021: Climate envoy John Kerry told CNN that fossil-fuel companies “ought to be figuring out how do we become not an oil-and-gas company, but how do we become an energy company.” ($2.71)

April 22: Biden unveiled a “Climate Finance Plan” to “promote the flow” of capital “away from high-carbon investments.” ($2.85)

May 20: Biden signed an executive order requiring federal agencies to calculate the highly speculative risk of so-called “global warming.” Kerry chirped: “It’s going to change allocation of capital.” ($3.02)

June 1: Biden halted oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. ($3.03)

July 11: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that she expects multilateral development banks to “discourage new investments in fossil fuel-based power generation except where other options are not possible.” ($3.12)

Aug. 16: Reuters reported, “Treasury to oppose development bank financing for most fossil fuel projects.” ($3.17)

Sept. 23: Biden nominates Soviet-born and -educated Saule Omarova as comptroller of the currency. She had said of oil and gas companies, “We want them to go bankrupt.” She also stated, “The way we basically get rid of those carbon financiers is we starve them of their sources of capital.” Drowning in controversy, Omarova eventually yanked her name from consideration. ($3.18)

Oct. 28: State Department energy-security aide Amos Hochstein called oil and gas investment “unfortunate and unnecessary.” ($3.38)

Nov. 5: Asked about boosting output to curb gas prices, Energy Secretary Granholm replied: “That is hilarious.” ($3.39)

Dec. 10: Biden directed federal agencies to cease funding new, international, carbon-intensive fossil-fuel initiatives. ($3.34)

Jan. 31, 2022: Reuters reported,“The Biden administration will raise the royalty rate that drilling companies must pay on oil and gas leases it plans to sell in the first quarter.” ($3.37)

Feb. 24: Russia attacks Ukraine. ($3.53)

Feb. 28: Team Biden announces it would accept a federal court’s rejection of its few drilling-lease sales. ($3.60)

Biden can only blame himself for high gas prices

With ALL this evidence, if you STILL blame anyone but Biden and the Democrats for these RECORD highest gasoline prices of all time, you are a moron.

PERIOD.

And you can't spin this. Facts are facts, and they don't care about your feelings.

We have 50 million illegal aliens in america and half of them drive. Get rid of them and prices would plummet. The water shortages and electricity shortages would also end.

Illegals are the problem and biden is letting them in by the millions every month.

Some points to ponder, (with all due respect)

1. Gasoline (to be more precise, oil) prices are based on oil speculators, making decisions based on supply. A ship is sunk in the Strait of Hormuz, and oil goes up $20 a barrel. Oil platforms in the Gulf are destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and oil goes up $20 a gallon. Joe shuts down pipelines and declares war on domestic oil production and oil goes up. You can see the pattern.

2. There is no such thing as a water shortage. (I get this a lot in Florida, of all things.) Most of the surface of the earth is water. And water NEVER is destroyed. Water molecules do not disappear. They merely take other forms: vapor, ice, liquid. Drinking water might be in shortage, but that's more a local planning problem.

3. I agree with you as far as the illegal aliens go. They ALL need to be deported immediately. And those who are here who try to vote should be locked up, charged with a felony, spend prison time and then be deported.

So if the illegal immigrants were sent back across the border it would rain? Sounds like you are kind of clueless...

Oil production dropped by about 1/3rd in 2020. It is now back to near 2019 production levels. Demand is higher than 2019. By the way...world wide oil shortages...not just the US are the issue. OPEC also cut production in 2020 and is still far below 2019 levels. Is that also Biden's problem?

Wouldn’t lowering demand for fossil fuels while supplies increase (as they have under Biden) tend to counteract the market forces raising gasoline prices?

Actual scientists have recently estimated the undocumented immigrant population at 22 million, with about 170,000 illegal border crossings per month. Anyway, most of them who are driving here would also be driving in their original countries, meaning interdicting their would lead to no lower demand but might intensify supply chain bottlenecks with American importation while leading more domestically produced oil and gasoline to be exported.

Domestic production is up about 20% from when Biden took office.
