You also have to wonder how many of them will openly show the joy they receive when they see a large plume of black smoke billowing from the exhaust pipes of the massive, 4mpg getting, diesel powered fire trucks rounding the corner to try to save their overly-sensitive little asses....

Actually most just go to the local charge station and are good to go. In the bay area there are plenty of the stations cause we have chevy volt, Jaguar electric, and other vehicles that use electricity instead of petroleum.

How long does it take to charge? Prius Prime's battery can be charged in less than 5 hours and 30 minutes by plugging the included charging cable into a standard household outlet. When using a public charging station (240V), Prius Prime can be fully charged in approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.
