The Unafforable Care Act

Senator
Republicans and Democrats finally agree on something: Obamacare is a failure:

Another Study Confirms Obamacare Is The Unaffordable Care Act

Despite the high level of partisanship in the United States, both sides can agree on something even as controversial as health care: Both Democrats and Republicans believe Obamacare has failed to deliver.

Based on their last primary debate, Democrats running for the 2020 presidential nomination can’t give away more health care subsidies fast enough. Some of them want to abolish Obamacare outright. But all of them agree the law has not lived up to Barack Obama’s claims during the 2008 campaign, when he repeatedly promised that hisplan would reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family.

A recently released analysis by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) confirms what Democrats themselves have admitted: Obamacare has priced millions out of the market for health insurance.

Anyone surprised by this didn't do the math ahead of time.

And healthcare would be even more expensive without it.

Medical bankruptcies would be higher. The doctors/hospitals don't just eat those costs of indigents. They pass them along to everyone else.
I don't see any numbers there, or cited references, just more rhetoric.

Since the Democratic Presidential hopefuls are now all abandoning Obamacare, I am left to conclude it has been a catastrophic failure. You can dig in and defend bad ground if you wish, but your party representatives won't be joining you in the foxhole. They've moved on.

Shunning ObamaCare

Of my company’s 5,453 eligible employees, only 420 actually enrolled. The other 5,033 opted to pay a penalty.

1.)If you are dumb enough to work for Andy Pudzer you deserve to pay a penalty.
2.)what is the Republican alternative to Obamacare? They don't have one. Right-wingers lost the right to b*tch about Obamacare when they couldn't field an even remotely viable alternative.

Sad, but not surprising that you chose name-calling as a substitute for an argument.

I'm not carrying water for them. I'm pointing out what's obvious: Obamacare is a failure.

Don't believe it? Check with your Democratic representatives in Congress:

ObamaCare will continue to trudge along as a program providing health-care coverage to millions of Americans. But it is an ideological zombie.

As of last week, it seems the Democratic Party as a whole has officially given up on the economic theory that shaped nearly every element of the Affordable Care Act's design. That is, no segment of the party — neither the progressives aggressively pushing Medicare-for-All nor the moderates calling for more gradual reform — now believes real change to the American health-care system can be brought about by individual health-care payers being better shoppers. This marks a massive paradigm shift within the entire party.

Last Tuesday, the House voted overwhelmingly (419-6) to repeal the Affordable Care Act's "Cadillac tax." Nearly all of the chamber's Democrats voted for the bill. The controversial provision of the ACA would have applied a large tax to employer-provided insurance plans over a set value, starting in 2022. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the repeal will increase the deficit by $197 billion.

This reversal comes almost exactly 10 years after President Obama spent a huge amount of political capital fighting to ensure this provision made it into his signature health-care law. Obama took on friendly labor unions, businesses, and activists in order to get this tax included, despite terrible polling for the provision. The tax was the main basis for Obama's oft-repeated claim that the ACA would "bend the cost curve." It was the keystone to the payer-focused strategy of reform that Democrats championed at the time.

The Investor plan re-names it but is about the same thing as Obamacare, does that halp ?
The investors plan is let people sell "insurance" plans that don't actually cover anything.

It's like somebody offering to sell you insurance that only covers being struck by lightning on the second tuesday of every month. Yes, the premiums would literally be pennies, but you are still be ripped off.

You can't really complain about it when you don't have any idea of how to improve it.

When you have to stand on your head so as to not address the cost you will end up with a bad outcome.
