What makes you think those folks are citizens or soon to become citizens? The whole reason they are being brought in is for cheap exploited labor, the condition of which is that they are denied equal rights and threatened with deportation. This discrimination then drives down wages for all of us and undermines efforts to build effective unions. Allowing them citizenship rights would undermine this discrimination and thus undercut the business-driven demand for immigration.
