The fact that Cawthorn was voted out speaks well for voters in your state. Hopefully the GOP is in the early stages of DeTrumpification. The sooner the stench of Trump is removed from the US body politic, the better.

The only reason that the Yabba Dabba republicans of Western NC voting him out was because of those pictures that came out of him dressed up in women's clothes. Just look at the other races around the country. The GOP of 2022 is no different than the German Nazi supporters of the 1930s. Same type of people.

What world are you living in where a right wing nut would be elected in a liberal part of the state. Clearly you are not familiar with the western part of your own state. Outside of the oasis of Asheville there isn't much liberal to be had in that part of the work.

The primary losses of so many Trump-backed candidates to candidates on their left suggests the party is becoming more moderate. It still has its rabid right wing and authoritarian tendencies, of course.
