Obama is almost doing something right.

He's proposing to cut the military so deeply that "American ground forces will no longer be large enough to conduct prolonged, large-scale counterinsurgency campaigns like those in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Great idea if, in fact, Obama was changing the foreign policy of the US to support this meaner, leaner military.

One problem, he's not.

Cutting the military without an end to interventionist polices is premature.

Change the polices first, then make the cuts.

He's increasing the military budget 15% every year instead of 25% every year.

Don't get me wrong. I'm FOR this change if he changes Foreign Policy to support a smaller military.

I think it makes good sense.

But, in my opinion, he's putting the cart before the horse.
