How was that a derailment? In fact, it added to the conversation. Democrats did submit a bill in 2017 to require a visitor log for where the president is conducting government business. It should have passed but didn't.
Fascinating, but the topic is Biden’s house and why the GOP hacks are asking for logs for Biden’s house and not for the logs for Trump’s social club. A proposed (but failed) bill applying to past presidents’ places of business, regardless of party, has nothing to do with the topic.
The point is that if that bill had actually made it out of committee, there would be reason to expect records for Mar-a-lago as well as Biden's home. The flaw is that the documents were at Biden's home from 2017 to 2021, when Biden was not president...and from 2021 to August 2022 for Mar-a-Lago...when Trump was not president.
so, not required...then.
Yes, I know what the legislation would have required, but it didn’t pass. And it has nothing to do with the thread topic, as I said above.
Even if the bill had passed, it would not have required a log for the time that Trump had documents at Mar-A-Lago...he was no longer president and would not have applied to VP Biden at all. A log would have been required after Jan 2021 for Biden's home.
sure it does. dems ran their mouths demanding info, demanding logs.. despite the bill not passing... that certainly did not stop them from drumming up drama and hystrionics for the media and public consumption..

Actually, the requirement for visitor logs seems to have started under Obama and was the work of CREW.
