ANSWER: The British invented the tank but did they actually come up with the term?
Let me begin with Germany:
Today, Panzer is a loanword, notably in the context of the German military. But it is a bit more confusing because the first German "tank" was the Sturmpanzerwagen (Armored assault vehicle) A7V. Later German tanks were known as "Panzerkampfwagen" or roughly "armored combat vehicle." Leave it to the Germans to be direct and to the point.
WWII GERMAN SONG
Now go to the UK:
In 1915, the British military at the behest of then-First Lord of the Admiralty Winston Churchill, established the Landships Committee, which was composed mainly of naval officers, politicians and engineers.
In an effort to hide exactly what the military was building, the vehicles were called "tanks" to suggest a container to transport fresh water to the front. In December 1915, the codeword "tank" was officially adopted, and the Landships Committee officially became the Tank Supply Committee
Here come the tanks:
Biden concluded it was important to move in lockstep with an ally, despite the Pentagon’s misgivings, and put an end to the dispute. Backed by some of his top aides, including Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Biden early this week agreed to send 31 Abrams main battle tanks to Ukraine. Germany, meanwhile, is sending 14 of its own Leopard tanks to the front line, and gave permission to other countries to re-export their German-made tanks as well, for a total of about 80 Leopards.
All of the chatter about tanks notwithstanding it is still about Biden’s smokescreen:
p.p.s. Biden would send the U.S. Military to Ukraine if he could get away with it. His motive has been to make Ukraine a member state in NATO —— NATO is Biden’s only option because he cannot go to the United Nations for another war after the U.N. betrayed this country in Vietnam. Bottom line: Biden works for China, the New World Order, the United Nations, and NATO. He always worked for everybody except private sector Americans.
