Summarizing Mitt's approach to the poor and "the safety net"...

Bugsy McGurk

President
He says he's not worried about the very poor, because he's willing to plug holes in the safety net, while he also supports the Paul Ryan spending plan, which would devastate the safety net.

Willard is a laughable clown - that's why The Donald likes him so much. Two peas in a pod.

Mitt is a contemptible slime who is so thirsty to be the President of the United States that he would make a deal with Maroni ( or Satan for that matter ) himself just to feel the warm, cushy softness of the oval office chair beneath his ambitious little ass. Even with that horrifying reality he would still be a better CEO than the clown prince who currently occupies the chair.

I see you are another Republican grossly disappointed with the fact that Obama inherited the GWB massive recession/job loss conditions, and converted them to 22 months of economic growth and private job gains.

Not to mention Obama's snuffing of Osama bin Laden and his cohorts.

Just can't wait to get some more GOP rule?

So then, the best measure of the efficacy of the anti-poverty efforts of a government is how much is spent on how many people?

Huh? My post has nothing to do with my views. I simply pointed out how Willard is speaking out of both sides of his mouth, as always. Try to pay attention to the topics.

That's not what he said OR what he meant, of course. His main concern is the millions of middle-class citizens that Obama has literally destroyed or is in the process of destroying through Obama's socialist policies. The middle-class HAS no safety net of government assistance, of course.....unless they have now become poor, as well. Not until the middle-class's entire savings are GONE will the middle-class be eligible for the same nanny-state safety net that the poor have had for decades. Of course, that IS Obama's goal and intention....to bring the middle-class Americans (mostly white conservatives in his 'mind') to their knees....literally begging for government help.

That rant has nothing to do with the topic.

Does that preclude you from answering the question? No. But avoiding being pinned down at all cost so you can continue to lob bombs from the shadows appears to be rather important to you.

I like focused discussions.

You prefer to drift all over the place.

Let's agree to disagree on that.

Hmm looks like we lost a whole series of posts.

So while it is true that efficacy of anti-poverty efforts is properly measured by how effective they are at keeping people out of poverty, the correlation to cuts vs. increases is pretty clear.
