There are no such things as "indies"l... there simply are those who are trying to decide if they willturn out or not. Its a demographic turnout game. And the GOP lost that one in 2008 when Obama "Out Reaganed Reagan" in the crucial 18-29yo vote (67:31 is a rout)

And for Romney to win, he has to somehow break the Obama turnout machine which has been spending tens of millions to re-invigorate that local ground game. MEanwhile Romney is getting beaten up by other GOP candidates who like Newt, are recording MoveOn.Org's August and September ads.

Waste is a meaingless measure in Defense. All complex systems have waste. The issue is that the NET FISCAL MULTIPLIER for Defense spending is 0.5 compared to 1.5-2.0 for domestic spending including unemployment.

Except you haven't proven me wrong. What you've proven is that EITHER
1) conservatives don't understand what "Original Intent of the Founding Fathers" really means in full
and/or
2) they really are just arguing that instead of what the "original intent of the Founding Fathers" as their goal - their real goal is simply THEIR PERSONAL BELIEF of what SHOULD BE


the latter is hardly any more "Constitutionally Conservative".

Basically if Romney wins the nomination and loses the general, then the ultraconservatives will win the nomination in 2016 - kinda like Dukakis in '88. And that means that it will be a rout. Which means in 2020 the GOP will abandon conservativism and still lose... and by 2024, the conservative movement will be so discreditted that someone like Meghan McCain will get the nod and might even win. But in doing so Conservativism will be back in its litte John Bircher corner.
